There was a traveling salesman whose car got stuck during a blizzard this past winter near a place south of Kankakee called Watseka, Illinois. It took him several hours to make it to the nearest farm house, but frozen half to death, he finally reached the front door and knocked.
A wrinkled old farmer with a twinkle in his eye answered and the salesman pleaded for a place to get some sleep and wait out the storm. ‘Why sure, I can put ya up for the night,’ said the hospitable old man. ‘But, I ain’t got no daughter here, like ya always hear about in them jokes.’
‘Oh!’ said the salesman. Then thinking a moment or two said, ‘Just how far is it to the next house?’
A salesman knocks on a farmer’s door, asking for lodging for the night. “Sure,” says the farmer, “But you’ll have to spend the night with my son.” “Oh no!” says the salesman. “I’m in the wrong joke!”
Slim is still working at 71 and Jim won’t let him retire yet. Skeezix turned 65 in 1986 and that’s when he turned over the garage to Clovia and Slim. Corky is in his 90s and still runs the diner. Now in his mid 70s himself Jim probably has no plans to retire either!
