You’ll remember when you leave the office, Rufe. Seems like this over-officious jerk is pretty much like the guy in the 1972 story with the then vice mayor going all Al Haig when Mayor Kitty Paugh was out of town… and he and Rufus ended up locked in the janitor’s room all night in the basement.

It’s a full slate of classics for the 14th:
Normally I give Avery a hard time for being kind of mean when he goes miserly to such a miserable degree, but this time I think his antics are all in good practical joking fun.. and it’s to the kid’s benefit.
It’s a rare day when Deuces stacks the deck, and pulls the wrong card from the bottom.
Extreme violence has been authorized in the apprehension of whoever has reached Brenda’s window up on the fire escape, and our Starr wants to make sure the S.W.A.T. team holds their fire on who is surely her long-lost mystery man out there.
I gotta tell ya… those four women really get around, if you know what I mean. Wink, wink.. nudge, nudge … say no more!
Okay, so yesterday I thought Mayor Imeswine when the regular mayor isn’t here! looked like Quincy McGoo. now, sitting upright with his eyes open, I’m getting a definite W.C. Fields vibe about the man. Who knows who he’s going to be tomorrow?
I’m starting to get the feeling that the Gasoline Alley name change is all Imeswine’s idea, and that Mayor Melba is totally unaware of this because it’s all been happening in her absence.

Did he marry Jim Hogg’s daughter Ima? (Wikipedia says Jim only had one daughter. Ura was fictional.)

I guess Mayor Imeswine doesn’t talk in a southern accent unlike Rufus, Joel, and Miss Melba.

If Rufus wasn’t so darned poor he’d be missing his wallet by now. If politicians didn’t already have a bad name this is the guy who’d give them one
