I was gonna say, “Who pays long distance anymore?” But then I saw the comic’s copyright is from 2000. Bittle must have used a dial up modem to send this one in.
Funny, and I liked it. I do need to spread the word about a new problem not present back then. Scammers, using AI, are now able to recreate your voice from about 30 seconds of conversation. They can then use this with any ID information they have, to convince another person to access your accounts, tell your family they’ve kidnapped you, and demand ransom, or a host of other criminal activities. Whether it’s a known or unknown caller, be careful about the length of your conversation, as well as any sensitive information. (retired IT guy)
