It says November 13/20 but this is obviously eight or twelve years back. Stay tuned when Bucky wears a mask (Silence of the Lambs style, natch) in 2030.
In 2008 I considered McCain and Obama closely matched candidates for President and it was going to be a difficult decision on my part to select one of them. But the Republicans made it easy for me to vote for Obama when they selected Palin as their VP candidate. A kumquat would have had better qualifications than her.
John Cleese even said that Michael was no longer the funniest Palin. And now for something completely the same — a Republican mess to clean up like 2008
Sarah Palin was an odd phenomenon. Once she got professional make-up, you could watch her glistening lips for several minutes before thinking, “What did she just say?”
I remember when Sarah Palin got announced. I actually had called that one a few weeks prior (I’m not really a political strategist, but I’d be willing to play one on TV). Among my other politically interested friends they were quite impressed at my prognostication – but seeking validation from others … they also were “who?”
The Michael Palin ticket rode on public funding for argument clinics. Those who wanted to make a case against such funding were kindly directed to submit their complaint at the clinic itself.
Sarah Palin was Donald Trump’s metaphorical John the Baptist—“…but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry.”
Republicans and Democrats have always chosen VP candidates in very different ways. When Democrats think their candidate has weaknesses, they choose someone for VP with strengths in those categories to try and strengthen the overall ticket. When Republicans think their candidate has weaknesses, they choose a VP candidate who looks much weaker and more flawed, thereby making their primary candidate appear stronger by comparison. That’s how you get such classics as Palin and Quayle.

Michael Palin, in case you are wondering, was part of the Monty Python crew. As a Brit he would not be an eligible VP. Though we could do worse.

I wonder if that was Ricky Gervais Bucky was referring to in Panel 2? Didn’t think he was Bucky prominent in 2008
