Gil resurfaces!!! It’s about time. Looks like Kaz kept him under a pile of lead and Gil is having to lift himself out from under it…and it’s giving him several zits.

I’ve never seen a spotter for someone lifting dumbbells.

I was going to say – spotting for handweights? Those can’t be more than 40# each . . . if that. I mean, I knew Gil was getting long in the tooth but if he’s sweating 40# dumbells . . . And who says “taking a meeting with” anyway?

Why does Gil have a generic coffee cup in P3? After being absent so much lately, if we want to recognize him, we need the “Gil” cup more than ever.

P1- The 1995 barb wire tat seems to be losing its luster. But Kaz’s mullet is perfect. Doyle Doofus is suffering the effects of the Shamrock Shake.

Spotting for dumbells is done to ensure proper form rather than protection. It’s not the number of reps alone that is important; it’s the number of reps peformed correctly. Lousy form prevents proper isolation of muscle groups.

Additionally, a spotter can “bump” a bent elbow to enable the lifter to get through a sticking spot in his or her lift and thereby increase his or her number of reps. Give it try the next time you’re lifting with a partner during bench presses and military presses.

Oops – and one other thng. 40# weights aren’t much unless you are lifting to exhaustion. Try burning out the next time you lift. Start with 40’s and curl until you can do it properly any more. Then drop to 30’s and repeat the process. Then drop to 20’s, and finish out with 10’s. The burn out will give you a much better workout for your bi’s. Do the same for your tri’s. The results will be much better than just quitting at your max weights.

Gil’s also despondent over lookalike Mitt Romney’s loss.

don’t assume with the dumbbells. I used to use 100s, and they had 140s at the gym. Dumbbells assure even effort

Marty Moon hasn’t done much to stir the pot lately. Sounds like he’s due to shake things up as well
