I grew up being made to eat boiled spinach. No matter how many times I had an allergic reaction and vomited it back up it was always on my plate until I went off to uni. I cannot eat cooked asparagus, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cauliflower and spinach without some nausea and therefore I do not eat them cooked. But I did find a better way to eat the b. sprouts. I slice them in half and grill them and then drizzle clarified butter over them. Raw broccoli and cauliflower are best served with cheese sauce and spinach works well in a salad. I don’t eat asparagus raw or cooked. YMMV
DEADlines around here are Halloween. I haven’t put up one decoration. I haven’t planned a pumpkin to carve. Costumes have not come out of mothballs. And candy doesn’t go on sale until the 24.
I would have been perfectly fine with that third choice. Unfortunately, the only choice I had was being held prisoner at the table until the plate of vile matter was clean.
