cats can stand up to 50 C, without water and without any discomfort. If they have access to water, it’s up to 60. They’re amazing creatures, and I’m happy to own one. This heat tolerance is atavistic and comes from the days they were desert animals.

My cat used to love to lie on the heat vents on top of my TV set (this was before flat screens). I measured the temperature there once, it was 100 F.

My dog does that, too. I’ll have him on the porch in the shade, and he’ll go lay in the grass in the sun. Go figure.
