Gabby: Why are you turning over the soil in your garden?
Grandma: All the blossoms shriveled up and all the petals fell off. I can't seem to grow anything!
Gabby: I'd suggest we put flowers on the grave, but...
Grandma: Smart Aleck.
There’s debate on the turning over soil issue. If you have good dirt with worms, nature will create the right balance of soil structure and you’ll hurt that by digging it up, create too much airspace if it’s too loose. So some of us dig as little as possible, some are still creating the good dirt by adding compost, and some do the traditional digging of the beds each year. My beds are in the first 2 categories (some older than others)
