I am sure this has probably been asked before so please forgive me for asking again, but does anyone know where I can find the back story to this strip? How did she become guardian to the twins? The Mother’s Day strip showed them at her mother’s grave, but what about the twins’ mother? The “overview” and “about” sections do not explain that. I even went back to the start of the strip and couldn’t find it. Thanks!
It was always the day after Labor Day when I was a kid (1960’s), thus I came to dread Labor Day. However my kids (and later, my daughter as a teacher) have had to go back by the middle of August. That seems downright inhuman to me! I don’t think they got out much (if any) earlier in June either.

Wow we didn’t stop school till the month of June (2nd week)…then back in September after Labor Day!
