Ah, those days long ago of school lunches featuring soy enhanced hamburgers, meatballs for spaghetti and chili meat. The weird thing is I actually grew to not mind them at all. A number of years later my wife along with a bunch of others would drive off base to a government distribution center to pick up ground beef that came with a packet of soy extender along with the government cheese. I know things haven’t changed that much for military families when I see on the news that they are qualifying for food assistance programs and getting in line for food bank groceries. We still suck at taking care of our military personnel.
