This is why I prefer Japanese movies for date night – at least they’re deep.
“A Silent Voice” is one of my favorite date night movies – a passionate story about what love truly means: a deaf girl, an ostracized ex-school bully, all wrapped up in a story of compassion that truly explores every meaning of the word “love”, not just the romantic.
But there’s always “The Garden of Words”, “Birds Without Names”, “Before We Vanish” and “Close Knit” if you want something more conventional…
…“Birds Without Names” is a passionate unrequited love story that would do well to be remade with David Anthony Higgins and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles…
…“Before We Vanish” juxtaposes H.G. Welles and Nicholas Sparks in a way that has to be seen to be believed…
…and “The Garden of Words”, well…it’s Makoto Shinkai. ’Nuff said.
