Mrs. Angelini:...back then, everybody was poor, even into the war years, and we all helped each other and entertained ourselves... Heart: ...boy, that's weird. I can't even imagine a time before "facebook." Mrs. Angelini: Yeah, a very strange time...if we wanted to talk to someone, we talked to them.
If the depression had lasted until the 1940s in Europe too, that would potentially have meant that the Nazis never rose to power. In Germany it pretty much ended by 1933, which the Nazis claimed credit for (undeserved), this helped them greatly in their rise to power.
