Heart: I think my house is haunted. Dean: Wait a second, Heart... Dean: ...we live in the same apartment building. if your house is haunted, my house is haunted! How come I've never seen any ghosts? Heart: Maybe you don't want it bad enough.
My young teenaged cousin used to refuse to sleep upstairs at our grandparents house because he was afraid of ghosts. Nothing anyone told him about “no such thing” would change his mind. He and I sat down one afternoon and I told him that ghosts only haunt places that either meant something to them or where they died. Since our grandparents had built that house, and we were certain no one had died there, there was no logical reason for it to be haunted. He never had a problem with sleeping upstairs again. (Oh, dear. That was about 35 years ago!)
