Rabbit ears? With only a couple of channels to watch, I doubt they’d be watching TV all the time.
Just how old is this comic? I haven’t seen a TV look like that in a long time.
That may be true, but there are very few analog stations left broadcasting to pick up with that antenna so some will be forced to upgrade if they want to watch anything at all.

Switch it off? You’d have to get up & walk across the room! Too much effort.
You don’t need to turn it off if you didn’t turn it on in the first place. I keep mine off, and turn it on when I want to watch a program.
