Why are his legs harrier in Fred Flinstone than in Robin?

Didn’t there used to be a dog and a rat in this strip? What happened to them?

Somehow the Fred-from-Scooby-Doo look flatters him the most.

Bixby the Rat shows up fairly regularly, but Fritz the Dog (no relation) is rare (he’s not been entirely forgotten, though). But yeah, the focus of the strip has shifted more to the bar where the characters all hang out than the employment agency (which was the original premise of the strip). It might just be because, other than Hamhock, everybody seems to work pretty steadily.

Sometimes his arms are muscular–sometimes not.
