Time to face facts, football lovers. Unlike MLB, the NFL doesn’t give a bleeep about steroid abuse, either causing dozens of injuries in the short term, or causing long term health problems that has the average lifespan of an NFL player down to something like 61. It’s all about the bux!!!
(In 1985, William “the Refrigerator” Perry was a monster at 320 pounds. Today the average NFL lineman weighs 330. The human body just isn’t equipped to naturally hold that sort of weight, all that muscle. Yet none of the networks that pay billions of dollars for the right to broadcast the games will do any sort of investigative journalism that might reflect badly on their ‘product’.
nfl gives an average of 5 tests per year per player. all players at least once per year. they started a testing program in 1987. baseball didn’t start until 2003. i don’t know that PEDs are any more or less a problem in NFL or MLB. but it is clear that baseball ignored it for much longer. and, in my mind, the blame is to the owners, the media, and the fans. who wanted all those records broken, every bit as much as the players who satisfied that want.
Sounds like they’re playing “The League” series of sports games. It makes me pine for the days when every arcade game sported a “Winners Don’t Do Drugs” message before and after every game.
