I’ve occasionally speculated on how football could accommodate the metric system. A 120-yard field (including the 2 end zones) is 109.7 metres. I figure we could use the same space and have a 90-metre field (with a “C” for center line 45 metres from each goal line, as in Canadian football) with 2 10-metre end zones (120.3 yards total). You’d still have 4 downs to go 10 metres (10.94 yards), but it would apply to both teams, so the only real difference would be making defense a little easier compared to offense.
