My kid does this without fail. I’ve stopped saying “what?” and just ignore him until he enunciates. (And no, I’ve been to an audiologist recently on another issue, so I know for a fact my hearing is fine.) Yet, when he’s playing video games I can clearly hear him three rooms and two floors away.
