It’s not so much where you come from back when as it is what you are today.

No, not related to slaves in that fashion at least.

Don’t worry. Every people practiced slavery to some extent unless they just killed those they defeated, so he can continue to claim to be descended from slaves.

Isaac Asimov pointed out that many liked to imagine living in bygone ages with them as the nobility. He said they were probably wrong but he KNEW they would be wrong for his bunch because they were Russian serfs, basically slaves who went with the land — whenever it changed owners, they changed owners. Only later did it largely become a “Black thing” and is currently mostly a “Muslim thing” or an “Asian thing.”

On The Jeffersons George had his roots traced back. Wheezy thought he’d be disappointed to discover he was not descended from African royalty, but rather slaves of other Africans. Instead, he was proud to realize how far he had risen above his roots — rather than think he had fallen from being king over a mud hut village. (Which isn’t really as glorious as it sounds.)

Africa is the most resource-rich continent on Earth – they could flood the marketplace with gold and diamonds beyond the capacity of the world to endure, making the price of both in the PENNIES… Somehow, that’s not the picture most people have in their heads. There’s a few reasons why the people on the continent haven’t connected in such a way in order to institute such a program of collaboration to institute economic dominance across the board… they ain’t like the Europeans.
