Something similar happened to me in middle school. I sent a Christmas card to someone I admired and a few weeks later I was blown away when I got one with a personalized inscription from him and Mrs Carter. Twenty years later I was working at a Habitat for Humanity site and the Carters were in the middle of a nationwide book tour but had stayed in the SF Bay Area for a few days for working at the site and a bit of tourism. I was putting up drywall and on the opposite side, I am left handed, I heard a hammering and there was a little guy, I am over 6 feet, I did not recognize under the hard hat, goggles and gloves. I went over to introduce myself, “Hi, I’m Teto. Are you new here ?” “Yeah, I’m Jimmy, how y’all doing?” Made my year.

I saved a tweet from Bill Freiberger when he complimented a vlog I made about the Sonic Boom cartoon, so I can understand this kind of reaction.
