I like the subtle “Happy Father’s Day” banner in the second panel…and Happy Father’s Day to all of you who are fathers out there!

I think we have all been there. I just one or two things and come home with five or six. But always get a cart because I know how I am – heh heh.

I’ve done that shopping alone. Too busy cooking in my head and being inspired by the store’s layout and marketing.

I like those little baby-carts that some grocery stores have. If it really is “just a couple things” I get a basket to make sure I don’t overshop and cut down on impulse buys.

When I used to shop food shop alone, unless it was a full blown shopping trip – I did not take a cart. If I took a cart I bought more than I needed or planned to. I can hold a lot of groceries.

When husband quit his job and started coming shopping with me – if I am buying more than 2 things, we have to take a cart – which he fills with items he decides we need – true for food shopping and other shopping.

When we started food shopping in person again in May 2020, as our few attempts to order food delivered were major disappointments as well as wastes of time and money, he of course insisted we use a cart. We food shopped for something like 4 hours and could not fit all the bags in the cart. This was repeated 2 months later and again 2 months after that. When we went on our next bi-monthly shopping trip I came up with the idea of two trips into the store. First went in and bought all non-cold items – out to the van and put same in, took new bags (at the same time as the pandemic started our state went to no plastic shopping bags to be handed out and stores could charge for paper bags in areas where the county or city government had not imposed a bag fee so we had to bring our own bags – and all these decades he was upset that I had been saving paper and plastic bags from stores) and went back in and bought all the cold items. Better than trying to fit more than 8 bags into the cart at a time – sometimes hit 16 double bagged bags on a trip – because he is sure we will run out. (Starting to throw out food items not used by time they are going bad as he overbought so much.)
