Arizona has had a problem with immigrants for along time. Check out The Grapes of
Wrath by John Steinbeck. They weren’t Mexicans , they were what were ‘affectionately’ reffered to as Okies & Arkies
If you lost your land through war or treaty, you gave it up forever. Someone ought to tell the Irish, We got invaded long before N America. You think the UK is giving it back?
I side with the Tea Parties on many issues (for example, limited government, reduced taxes and govt. spending, respect for the Constitution), but I’m embarrassed by their stand on immigration. They seem to think that enforcing a bad law is justified just because it is a law. By that logic, the most horrible things government can do should be enforced, which plays into the hands of the very people the Tea Parties oppose.
That’s okay, the Mexicans are moving in to the U.S., the Americans are moving into Canada…if we just keep things going like that everybody will end up right back where they started.
If you look at the” illegal invasion” as being the same as the European invasion then we better stop it now or we’ll end up just like Geronimo. Displaced and outlawed in our own country. Illegal does mean an unlawful or criminal act. Has everyone forgotten that?
I have a simple solution. Everyone who wasn’t born in Arizona should move back to wherever they came from. Now there’s a lot of room and opportunity. Oh wait! They’ll have to find a new Governor. And a new sheriff for Maricopa County.
Appropo, the eighteen people who posted before me couldn’t or didn’t name that Famous (or infamous) Native American by sight -without looking up the image.
His real name is Goyhkala , in English he is Jerome. The Spanish name Geronimo is pronounced “Heyromino”.
He did not give up util betrayed by members of the White Mountain Apache nation, who assisted General Crook as trackers.
All laws need to be enforced until they are changed. The current immigration laws must be honored and I believe left alone. Why is the Federal government singling out AZ, and not suing all of the other states that enforce immigration laws within their borders? In 1993, under the Clinton presidency, the INS Code of Federal Regulations was amended to train any local or state police to be deputized to assist then INS in detaining and turning over any suspected illegal immigrant. This is nothing new folks.

nighthawks asks; “why would anybody want to live in the desert?” When it’s 110º out, the ladies don’t wear a lot of clothes.

Somehow I don’t see the activist Republican judges on the Supreme Court going for this one.

The anti-immigrant law in Arizona will be reversed as soon as $ 10.00 letuces and $ 15.00 pound of tomatoes hit the supermarket shelves.
