However, the government can and has stopped people from incitement (you can’t yell “fire” in a crowded theater or verbally encourage others to commit crime). Also, even if the government doesn’t stop you, you still have to take into account the consequences of your speech. We’ve seen people in this country be murdered for less offensive comments than the pictures of Muhammed were intended to be. If she truly wanted to do something productive about the absurd and evil murders of people portraying Muhammed, she might focus on the fact that there was a time when there was no prohibition against portraying him – it’s relatively new – so the prohibition is itself un-Islamic.
