Franco is a latino name, almost every one in The Godfather was latino (latino is Spanish for latin just in case anyone was wondering ) Latino is anyone and anything that has latin roots. Culturally or otherwise so if you speak Italian, French, Portuguese or Spanish you are latino, if your ancestry comes from Italy, southern France spain Portugal or any of the Mediterranean island south and west of Italy you are latino. Natives of the Americas were NOT latino, descendants of natives that either mixed with latino conquistadores etc or that adopted latin culture like language can be consider Latinos
The fuss about Franco getting that part reveals a lot of people just don’t know their facts. Castro comes from parents from Galicia, the NW corner of Spain. Spain is right above Portugal, and “Franco” named people I have known (former in-laws) are of Portuguese descent. So the whiners can just can it. A talented person will be playing the role of a historic character, and he’ll pull it off well.
So if James Franco’s surname is actually from Galicia, how many generations have to pass so somebody with Spanish ancestors isn’t considered Latino anymore? Or is it that Spaniards aren’t actually Latino? (People in Spain tend to consider themselves white)

Interesting, Franco is as a Cuban surname as Garcia, Castro, Torres and Rojas. Must be something else going on.

Cultural disappropriation (sic). (It’s funny when someone tells me what term they think I meant.)
