Cavemen had perfect posture, but only until they got mates. Then they reverted to dragging their knuckles across the ground.

So…they didn’t walk erect?

Lack of mothers? That would also explain why they always went around in nothing but loincloths. No “PUT ON A SWEATER!” or “WEAR YOUR JACKET! DO YOU WANT TO CATCH AMMONIA?”
