Our pug used to refuse to pee on the wet grass. Would look for leaves that blew on covered porch or bark dust under the roof eves. Wife used to say she didn’t want to get her Lillie white ss wet.
We all have our own issues with relieving ourselves. Guess dogs do too. If I had started with a puppy I would have tried training it to go on the toilet. It can be done apparently.
OMG Max you remind me of our Brandy with her look at the rain and looking at us as if to say “I can wait”…..“it’s wet out there”. Whereas Alex saw the rain tag was wagging and he couldn’t wait to get out in it (however he was a Lab and Brandy was a Viszla…..BIG difference)

I agree.

Considering Max’s anatomy, holding him up that way would aim the urine up towards the ceiling.

You wouldn’t think a dog would pee in his drinking water.

We had a dog that wouldn’t go in the snow. She also wouldn’t go on the shoveled patio, so we had to shovel the grass.

Wouldn’t it be easier to lift/help him into the tub? You might even carefully place some greenery for him to water.
