This was more sad than funny to me. Lost a dad and 4 siblings to the ravages of cigarettes. Addiction is a nasty thing.

I haven’t smoked cigarettes for 33 years but that doesn’t mean I don’t occasionally miss them. I get the desire to “light up” every once and awhile, but the urge quickly passes.( Of course at my age, there’s a lot of urges that pass quickly ! )

What confounds me, is those individuals with emphysema, or other lung diseases, who are hooked up to oxygen bottles and still continue smoking cigarettes !

My dad was in the hospital in an oxygen tent in the terminal stage of congestive heart failure. They wheeled him in a wheelchair into the hallway temporarily while they changed the bed linens. He managed to bum a cigarette and a light. (This was in 1970 when you could still smoke inside of a hospital, even inside patient rooms if there was no oxygen being used!)
