With Mitosis, there should be two identical daughter cells – identical twins. They should be clones of the mother. And because the mother put everything she had/was into making it happen, the mother only lives on in and through her daughters.
[Then again, if this was a type of cell that undergoes a type of unequal mitotic division called budding (like yeast cells do), the mother cell would divide unevenly producing one small cell and leaving the other daughter to function as the mother.]
