It’s more a female thing, I think. Possibly not so much because of gender per se, as because of the relative number of shops selling particular goods. Either way, my wife will happily spend a full day just wandering around looking at clothes and trying things on; she calls it “Having a shop fuddle”. We’re retired, so I could go with her, but I’ve given up on that because (a) I get bored after the first 30 minutes and (b) just following someone around when you’re not interested in what they’re doing is incredibly tiring. Sure, if there are things I want we can split up for an hour or so – but that’s only a small fraction of the time she’d like to spend. So now she goes off on her own and I either join her later or just let her get on with it. She gets her shopping session; I get a relaxed day to myself. Win-win.
