Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for October 05, 2012
Transcript:
Luann: "I'm afriad if I ask Quill what he wants to talk about, it'll be bad news" Mom: "Or, it could be good news, honey, send a text or something. Ask him what's up. Just keep it casual and breezy" Luann: "Right. Casual and breezy. I can do that. 'My darling Quill-" Mom: "Stop."

I agree with Luann’s mother. Stop. Don’t commence the text with “my darling Quill.” Just start with “Quill”; ’twill save you text space (sometimes I send or receive two-page texts myself).

Start over, Luann. Listen carefully to what Nancy said. Then, do what she said.
9thCapricorn about 12 years ago
What’s wrong with a simple, “Hey Quill. What’s up with you?” Friendly and neutral. Let Quill feel friendly and unthreatened. Jeez. Brad and Toni had her so confused that Nancy has to straighten her out. Unfortunately children go to parents for advice LAST when stuff start happening badly.

I’m with the one who said we men are simple and if Quill wrote that they need to talk, he just wants to talk. Of course, talk can go many ways, but that’s all part of life.

If you ask, it doesn’t make it any worse (or better), it just ends the uncertainty and allows life to progress.

I feel like if you start your poem with “There once was a…” you can’t later say “limerick simerick”. You committed to a limerick and failed to deliver. Five lines, rhyme scheme A,A,B,B, A.

My only question is..why haven’t they just been texting each other from the start????

Well said.

I’d be content if Quill’s GPS took him off a cliff somewhere in Australia if it’d bring this arc to some freakin’ resolution.

Hold Everything!!!! Here’s the entire solution as to how Luann should approach Quill. “Hi Quill. How’s everything with you? I received your letter. What did you want to talk to me about?” It’s short, friendly, and most importantly straight to the point.

Wallace … phallus. Close enough. Good job, Levi.

Afraid it will be bad news? It’s that same type of thinking that has you where you are now. And what could be worse than the guy you might have fallen in love with being on the other side of the planet?
Chuck374 about 12 years ago
Don’t keep it casual and breezy. He didn’t. He may get the idea that you don’t really care one way or the other. And then you two can continue on this “relationship” that is nothing more than a monkey-jumble of missed opportunities.

try, “I wanna have your baby?”
angusdad about 12 years ago
Luann, listen to your mother. She’s probably been down this road herself at some point.
tigre1again about 12 years ago
Maybe a “Wish you were here”…? Or, “How do you want to talk? phone, text, email?”
krelboyne about 12 years ago
A poster with wit self proclaimedthought the musings of Donny were lame.So he declared him a troll, which was rather droll.Because the cloth they were both cut from was the same.
punslinger about 12 years ago

Luann is still too young to realize all the good things she has – a family that loves her and supports her and a good quality of life. She is stuck on the why do I never get a break and get what I wish for (Aaron and Quill) so she gets depressed. She will be grown up when she realizes most people don’t get what they wish for and some people are just luckier than others. It is sad that in life some people seem to have everything without any effort and all you do is struggle. You just have to accept things sometimes and dwell on the good stuff.

If Quill wasn’t interested, I think he would just fade away but he did write so maybe he does care or needs closure before he moves on to his next relationship. Quill is a hunk and can do a lot better than Luann.

@Brdshtt – I could have used semicolons to infer someone was having a colostomy … but no, they were just filler for the Donny.I haven’t hinted at what’s coming in a long time, but Donny and Clyde and JJ were so scarred by it it seems like yesterday to them. And let’s not forget the duck farmer whatshername. Coaster?

Did you ever notice that there are more posts to Luann than any other strip???
drewpamon about 12 years ago
Next time on a very special Luann she finds out the many issues that arise from international sexting
kauri44 about 12 years ago
Probably true, but to be fair, have you ever tried to rhyme anything with Leviticus? It’s as bad as “orange”. (Door hinge?)
vldazzle about 12 years ago
I have to take it easy on my retoric with my lover as well even when he sends mixed signals like wanting to sing “All I Ask of You” as a duet.
daddo52 about 12 years ago
I think I agree with the majority. Send a text saying got your letter today. What do we need to talk about?
joisy^corncob about 12 years ago
Oh, let her go, Mom. Who know, this could work.
reedkomicks Premium Member about 12 years ago
“Why do I think Quill will show up at her door?”
Because I said so yesterday perhaps?
