IamJayBluE: there was a strip in which Quill noticed that Luann was and said he was as well. He could tell by the way her handwriting slanted.

Some people can write either left or right. They are rare, but Quill could be one of them. Greg might retire some of the characters in the strip once they graduate from high school and move on. Bern and Zane would make a great young adult couple.

I’ve heard from many that attended certain parochial schools, that the nuns there “strongly discouraged” writng with the left hand, for the same reason that left is called “Sinister” in latin, and “Dexter” is latin for right… they were purported to believe that it’s….let’s say, not good…. to write with the left hand, and “only correct” to write with the right… - Growing up as a young child, I was comfortable with the pen/pencil in my left hand, and only switched to right, because at that age, I “saw everyone else doing it”…. I can write with both, but I’ve found that you can really tell how far your penmanship has come, when you use a certain hand to do it…And, like you, I find that using left or right can have certain advantages in different situations, similar to what you mentioned with driving… I’m slightly left dominant, myself, but can switch for different activities, depending on the situation…

And @howtheduck <<<<<<<<<<<<< Thanks for the dates. I went back to the 2002 and finally found out (a bit) about Zane. Yes, exciting all right – so was Brad’s first ‘save’ of a person from a fire when he was just an EMT. And there was a nice comic touch on August 21, when Bernice was lamenting the fact that she’d finally found a guy to trust, and he might be dead and her response to that was ‘Why does everything always happen to me?!’ (Just in case folks think that Bernice is always a deep thinker and Luann is always shallow.)<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< But my question wasn’t about whether Bernice’s romances are more exciting than Luann’s, it was about why everyone figures that she had to be attached to someone for the story to be interesting. I, for one, am applauding the fact that she is doing good work as a counselor and may have found the work she’d like to do for life. That is no small thing. I have a lot of cousins, nieces and nephews who are part way or all the way through college and are floundering around trying to find something. A cartoon character who has identified a mission in his or her life is a great thing!

I don’t want to get too deep in the middle of it, but something to think about, with the subject being discussed of “foreigners coming and taking over things”: There was a time when those “originally native” to this particular land found “immigrants” and "illegal aliens’ coming and “taking over” rocks (Plymouth), jobs and property (driving families into forced relocation and "Manifest Destiny’ and all) and also brought over “conscripted, forced labor”, purposely bringing over peoples of different lands to have them to labor under many… reasons… – So it seems that “foreign job takeover” and " illegal immigrants" and all of this seem to be pretty much only acceptable when it suits a particular interest of certain ones’ needs, and when it is of benefit to them, at that time …. Hmm…

He did say his would be health food, so I guess as long as it’s healthy, it’s what he makes… whatever style of cuisine… I’ve also heard them mention wraps a lot when someone orders from his truck…

Because Luann romances are boring, but Bernice romances are exciting.^^Very true, Lu & MPQ are the dullest couple in comics, whereas, Bern has had a drug addict/pusher, a short time with Gunth (Whom Luann stole from her, just to dump him soon after) and Zane, a man in a wheelchair with a bad attitude, who’s life she tried to save in a fire.

my father was left handed and did ALL his writing with his right. That is how they were taught in his generation^^Yes, I am the same, I was born left handed, and Mom made me a righty… now I’m about 70% ambidextrous

Once again, Lev, you conveniently left out the fact that Ann Eiffel, besides ripping off her customers, also sexually harassed just about every employee that she ever had= Brad, TJ, Zane and Bernice (Being that she’s bi-sexual means that no one got off Scott free!).

Now, I’m hungry.

Last week, TJ told Quill he’d be cooking while TJ was supposed to take the money… more than likely, he has Quill running things while he… supervises…. unseen, that is…

Whatever happened to Zane? Did he and Bernice officially call it over, or has he just sort of faded away?

This would have been more visually appealing if Luann’s balloons in panel 2 had been connected, rather than floating separately.

I’m surprised and pleased by the comments discussing Quill’s handedness. I think I noticed because I’m also ambidextrous but in my case I was born righthanded and decided to teach myself to use the left. It was one of the hardest tasks I’ve ever accomplished. That’s why I appreciate those who were forced to switch hands – it wasn’t your choice AND I know just how difficult it is.

To clarify: I admire those who were forced to switch from left to right (and what an unenlightened practice that was).

Thanks, Lev. I don’t remember seeing Zane after the fire rescue, and wondered if there’s been something I missed that either tied off his relationship with Bern, or had him fall victim to something hideous in the hospital that took him out.

Which, come to think of it, would have been traumatic for Monroe, his service dog. Glad it didn’t happen like that.
