Shannon is a very lucky little girl to have you and Toni to love her.

I’ve been reading the Toni and Brad collection on the Luann fan site and yeah, I’m not sure how I feel about Toni. I feel like she still sees Brad as a friend who only likes him because he’ll do anything for her, things that Dirk didn’t—possibly—do during their relationship. I feel like this wedding isn’t going to work out and if it does work out, it won’t be a happy marriage. In short, I don’t trust Toni Daytona. And if you put your dress out there for her to wear and it turns into a runaway bride story-line, then I feel bad for you.

All tricks and no treats makes Brad a dull boy.

Shoulda had her dress up as Ann Eiffel. That would have scared the hell out of everyone. I hear Ann and Cruella De Ville hang together nowadays.

Shannon looks so happy and Toni looks… normal, Not pretentiously gorgeous, just normal. Like a beauty queen without her makeup and in old comfy jeans.

Shannon is a very good actress, and nice future niece. After all, outside of Disney movies, mermaids can’t walk on two legs.

I, personally, really like Toni and Brad together. A great friendship is the basis for a really happy marriage.

Have you ever realized that constant insults become yawners? No, of course not, unless you make those posts as a gift to list members afflicted by insomnia.

Boy, while I am in danger of being declared preternaturally optimistic I must say that some of these comments on Toni being a scheming bad match for Brad, or Brad being some kind of patsy for someone with a hard luck story, or variations on that theme so badly miss the point of the loooongg-developing love story, that I think they might be projecting their own personal issues in relationships. I think exactly the opposite of such a negative perspective on love and marriage and commitment is what is being presented by the Brad and Toni story, and I think, given the overall optimistic nature of the strip that is more likely, than the pessimistic perspective. I mean there might be bumps along the road, both endogenous and exogenous to it, but that is life isn’t it? Nothing ever is perfect, but one of the things that make good relationships good is how those bumps are handled.

Shannon’s loser-dad Jonah may be out “on an audition” again (conveniently), but she is very lucky to have long-suffering “Uncle” Brad to put up with her and to put her up in his arms as The Little Mermaid. His pursuit of Toni, with all its ups and downs, has made a man of Brad….
