I’m sure if his poodle girlfriend came down the path, Marmaduke would throw himself over the puddle so she could walk over the puddle and stay clean. Oh, who loves a dirty dog!!! Yip yip yip yip yip
We have Newfies. They would roll around in it and then share their love of the water by shaking off in front of us. Rain and snow up here are their favourite seasons.
My St. Bernard was funny that way too. There was a metal plate covering a gutter crossing the sidewalk on one of our usual walk routes. The first time we went that way he stepped on a corner of the plate and the plate raised a tiny bit. When his weight came off of the plate, it kind of banged and he remembered that forever and refused to cross the plate again. We had to go around it. That was the only thing I ever knew him to be afraid of. ;-)

It fascinates him seeing his reflection in it.

Well Phil, put your shirt over it for him.

Big dog, but the silliest little things scare him.

Isn’t this the dog who usually tromps through the puddles, splashing Phil with mud? Oh, wait! This one is on the sidewalk. No mud in it.

Why? There’s such a handsome guy in the puddle…

The grass is icky. Besides, he can see his pretty face.

He’s big enough to walk over it.
