I explained that to a friend’s 14 year old son, no matter how old you get, you are still your parents’ “baby”.
Right. We don’t mean they’re infants who can’t do anything on their own. It’s just a relationship description that never changes.
My relationship with my mom changed. It was a bumpy transition, but we both wound up treating each others as adults. She was a very interesting person. I liked her in both of her roles.
Years ago my mother warned me about that. Even when your baby is 60, you still worry about them. She was so right.

My youngest is 30 and she still calls me Mommy and I call her Sugar Bunny.
Forever her baby you’ll be.
