Same problem at times with automated punctuation code. Online book editor had inserted code for space before apostrophe for some reason. Some very strange word spacing and line breaks. Examples: won’t became won ’t, I’d became I ’d. Hard to concentrate when reader had to ignore that.

I recall when autocorrect changed “spouse” to “grouse” in an email to a male friend. Would not have been comfortable had I missed it.
