Actually it make sense. If we think about the three gifts that were purportedly give at the time, they were gold, a substance of exchange and for jewelry, Frankincense, a substance used in perfumes and myrrh a substance that at the time was used for embalming the dead.
Was this last gift a bit of foreshadowing of things to come?
