We used to have both of our families for Thanksgiving. (I am Jewish; he is Catholic – Thanksgiving is the only “family” holiday that both families wanted us for – and this was our solution.
Back then I would be cooking for a couple days before. Then, some almost 40 years later we had bedbugs and no longer have anyone in the house. So now all holidays are just the two of us. (Worst one of all is Passover. For those who do not know, there is ceremony at the dinner meal/seder. There are parts to be read by the leader – generally the father-, the mother, the guests and the children. So when it is time for the seder these years – I am all of these and have to read all of the parts.)
