I’ve always thought that there was a distinction to be made between geeks and nerds. The former (aside from it’s carny origins) I always thought was a socially inept goofball with technical skills, while a nerd lacked the tech..I think the fine gradations in language are worth preserving (especially since I consider myself a geek: who would want to be a nerd?).
