Love seeing that pump in the yard – means it was back in the day when most people still pumped their water into a bucket out in the yard, then carried the bucket into the house. Once inside the house, we dumped the water into a large cream can. Usually, there was ONE dipper by the cream can and EVERYONE drank out of the same dipper. EXCEPT when you had company. Then you gave the company folks glasses and they dipped their own water out of the cream can and into the glasses – Using, of course, the SAME dipper which everyone else had been drinking out of all day. (Usually, the dipper got washed every night, right along with the dinner dishes!)
