Glad for you Slim, PSA’s very important when you have your next blood test, (cancer sirvivor (2006)

@ml,only equinox ritual I have is closing this seasonal camp up on Lake Ontario within the next few weeks and head South to coastal GA. I’am sure Mountain Man has a cultrual tradition or two, yes

today,s paper mention a story about the oldest living man known, 114 yrs , Walter Breuning, born Sept 21,1896 in Melrose, Minn and moved to Great Falls, Mont. in 1918 where he worked as a clerk for the GREAT Northern Railroad for 50 yrs. nothing to do with rituals ,just a tibit of news..

Good morning everyone (even though it’s 11PM here). Slim, I’m glad to hear about your blood test results. Reminds me of my husband who had a very slightly elevated PSA (8 - 14). The doctor did everything he could think of including a surgical biopsy. Everything was negative except for a minor infection for which he took antibiotics for a couple of weeks. He still has a score of about 10, but the doctor decided it was just a high normal. Then after all of this, and about an inch and a half thick medical file, the urologist retired. No referral to a replacement, nothing. Go figure. During all of this, we had a repairman in our house that was crowing about getting his PSA score DOWN to 200. I guess everything is relative.

JanCinVV……….. Indeed, all things are relative. This last Xmas Eve I called 911around noon because I was sick. The night before that I’d opened my balcony door to let the cold air in, so I could snuggle down into my blankets. I turned to walk the few steps to my bed. and woke up on the floor with the cold air blowing across my bare torso. I have no idea how long I was down, but it took a long time to get out of my sweatpants and crawl into my bed. I was juhurt except for scraping my elbow on domething.

When the paramedics got there, my blood pressure was good, my pulse was normal and my temperature was around 90. They were reluctant to take me to the hospital but decided that they would let the hospital figure it out.

My normal temp is about 97.4. So off to the hospital i went. Was I sick? Enough so that it was 19 days before I got home!! Some things are relative, I had pnuemonia, and would surely have been in even worse shape if they hadn’t taken me to the ER.

Slim, he was talking about his PSA. He had prostate cancer and had just undergone treatment. That’s why his score was down. (from over 400) It was just the coincidence of when we were so worried about Michael’s score being “high” and then we hear this guy so happy about a score so much higher.

Good morning, Everybody! Had to hit the hay early last night. I’m so exhausted!!! Today we should wrap up the house cleaning routine for this month. It takes 3 days to do it all properly. Ugh!

Marg, love the Andrews Sisters, thanks…..good foot tapping music!!

SweetBill, Lake Ontario…you really did escape summer, huh? Yes, it’s autumn, and we didn’t have a summer either. Mountain Man doesn’t necessarily have an equinox “ritual”, but come the solstice…….woo hoo!

Good morning, to all Vagabond Villagers! Good to hear from y’all

ML……. Three days to do the monthly house cleaning?? Just how big is this house??? :-)))

Or are you folks kinda slow, like I am.

I am so fortunate to have someone come a couple times a month to help me keep my sturio apartment reasonablt clean. UNfortuneatly, every-day tidiness is up to me…. and I/m getting worse about it as time goes on. Flat places are to put things on…… and I do it too much.

Slim, the house is 2 levels, and 3200 sq ft. (we downsize as we get older, ha ha)

and, yes, we are getting slower, arthritis and all, ya know. We do keep it up each day, but the heavy cleaning takes it’s toll.

Used to have a cleaning lady in CA, but, up here, they charge WAY too much, and don’t do half the work.

MontanaLady,……. Re., that last part:: When I was working landscaping I was driving the truck back from finishing a job and was stopped by Hightway Patrol officer who asked me to open the tailgates ot the truck. The crew was riding in the back, and when I opened the tailgates, they bailed out and ran into the woods. This was up in the San Bernardino mountains.

The officer proceeded to berate me for hiring illegals when there were Americans looking for jobs. This was early 80s. When he stopped, I told him that I did not do the hiring, nor did I do the firing. I also told him that Anglos would not do the work for the wages becaise it was really heavy work most of the time and the men on my crew were good workers. After a while he left, and I went homw. Next morning the crew was all there, ready to work.

Your comment about the high wages demanded up there reminded me of that episode. .
