Good morning, VagaBonds!Had a great day, even though it got up to 92. Then, around 5 p.m. the thunder storms rolled in and dropped the temp to around 70! Ahhhh…..lovely!!! We never had any rain out of them, but could hear the thunder.
Yesterday you asked me if I was from the region of Xinjiang, where the Uygurs live. No: I live in NY and am not of Uygur background, although, according to my Y-chromosome, I am a Central Asian Khazar, somewhat relatede to the Uygurs – but that goes back 1300 years. In reality, I’m an Ashkenazi Jew who learned to speak Turkish during my travels and became enchanted by Uygur music and the culture. Speaking Turkish enabled me to communicate with Uygurs on my 2 trips there as Turkish is to Uygur I guess as Dutch or Scandinavian is to German..
High of 83 today. Should be great. My son (15yrs) and I have the weekend together as Wolfangil has high tailed it outta here til Sunday! Fun, fun, fun!
I read they decided not to shoot that female bear that killed that guy hiking in Yellowstone the other day so she and her cubs can go on with their life.
While strolling through the woods one dayI chanced to find there in my wayA little bear who’d gone astrayAnd Mama blamed it all on me.I protested to no availKind of stood there growing paleThen turned and ran down the trailTo take refuge in a tree.Mothers have always been the same I guessWhenever their child leaves the nestThe passing stranger is the guilty pestWho’s lured junior from her knee.So I sat on a limb to philosophizeAnd marveled Mama’s wonderful sizeWhile she collected her delinquent prizeAnd still grumbling, left to set me free.
