We too had a nice church service. Our assistant pastor married a couple of months ago, and his bride introduced an old tradition to our church this morning: Norwegian Hot Cross Buns. Fresh and home made. Man were they good!
Our pastor told us where the ritual “He is risen!” “He is risen, indeed!” came from this morning. Apparently he just figured it out while studying for our lesson in Luke 24. When Cleopas and his companion returned to Jerusalem after meeting with the Lord on the road to Emmaus they told the rest of the disciples “He is risen!” (assumed from the text, not specifically laid out) to which the disciples replied “He is risen, indeed and Simon has seen him!” (The second part is in the scripture.)
Add to our list of Easter movies “The Passion of the Christ”. Even though it is a bit too real in the beatings and crucifixion, it is one of the best to tell the story right out of the gospels.
Happy Easter everyone.
