I’ve been waiting for a strip with Sluggo or Nancy walking beside a brick building.
In today’s strip, the way Bushmiller handled Sluggo’s presence is by having a kind of corsage of patterned bricks, surround Sluggo in panels 2, 3, and 4.
The vacant wall space around the character becomes some kind of glow, or radiance of the character, in this case, Sluggo, shining on a brick wall.
