There is a story about Lady Astor at some kind of social or political gathering. She was talking to an acquaintance and was saying (audibly), “…the most charming, intelligent, and eloquent man in this room is wearing the most clumsily knotted tie!” Immediately, every man in the place reached up to fix his tie! So much for women being conceited!!
