Aunt Fritzi typing: Dear American, to every heart that has beamed with pride. To every hand extended-- In gratitude-- To the best of the best-- Who this country have defended. To everyone who's choked back the pain in their gut-- And didn't even try to hold back the tears. To each and all who have dealt with loss--- So much loss in these past then years-- I want you to know-- I love you-- Though we may never have met-- You and I are in the family of Americans-- And family is as close as it gets.

There have been some great 9-11 strips by Guy and Gil, this is the best, simple, emotional, but not preachy.

December 7, 2011 will be the 70th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Will there be comic dedications then? Will anybody remember? Just saying.

Thank you, Fritzi, for saying it better than I could. Somehow the comic strip tributes today moved me unexpectedly. Maybe because they are like old friends. This is one of the best.

May we all remember and cherish the feeling that enveloped our country in the days and weeks that followed the horrors of 9/11. We are all Americans and should stand tall in our patriotism and support our troops, our leaders and each other. God Bless our country and all those who believe in its strength and honor.

By the 20th anniversary of September 11 in 2021 – nearly everyone who vowed to “never forget” in 2002, 2011 and other years – have forgotten – saddest of all has been the disappearance of Nancy! The REAL Nancy was there when Pearl Harbor was attacked in 1941. Most of my generation were babes in arms when Pearl Harbor was attacked – but neither we nor REAL Nancy ever forgot. When the adults of that generation said they would “never forget” – they actually meant that, forever, they would remember. This year – 2021 – will be the 80th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. It will be interesting to learn whether or not there will be any who remember. In the meantime, my hat is off to the real Nancy – and Sluggo – who spent much time, helping raise funds for “war” bonds and took part in many other efforts to lift the spirits of those who were dealing with all of the hardships associated with international conflict. In the meantime, my hat is off to all of those first responders who assisted in dealing with the horrors of September 11, 2001. My hat is also off to Uncle Gabe, who, in 1941, was one of the first young men to be trained in the use of that new discovery – radar. Uncle Loren, who was on a troop transport, headed toward Pearl Harbor, when they received word of the attack. The soldiers in his group arrived in time to begin helping with mopping up after the attack. And to Uncle Ernie – who was with the Army units which arrived for the liberation of the concentration camps in Europe. Cousins Albin and Royce – who were at IwoJima. Uncle Harley, who was at Pork Chop Hill. Grandpas Calvin and Charles, who were Great Grandpas Charles and James – who were at the Battles of Bull Run in Manassas, Virginia. Great-great-great+-Grandpas Shadrack and Christian, who were at Valley Forge. As some have said – those who forget their history are, sadly, doomed to repeat it. Hopefully, the second edition of September 11, 2001 will find us better prepared.
