Why is her skin purple? This new artist is terrible.

@MATHEW WALLS: Actually, I think this ‘toon is from Guy Gilchrist. I don’t exactly get why the new artist isn’t doing Sunday ’toons, but this is the second time they ran a Gilchrist ’toon on a Sunday…

According to John Glynn, the first “new” sunday is from may 6th.

I’d forgotten it was Sunday, so you can imagine my disappointment when I opened my bookmark to find this relic of a forgettable era instead of the new kid hitting it out of the park.

Actually, this could describe a LOT of us…

So, that’s like two comics a month? Even in 2013?

I know a new comic strip has taken over and the humor isn’t half bad but her art style just doesn’t give off the warm and whimsical vibe like Guy does.

I guess she could as aunt Fritzi if she could do extra chores for more money. Bad idea?

Boy I sure miss Guy! His characters were adorable.

Uh oh! The three rocks are back! Time to make popcorn and watch everyone’s head explode!

So by the time she saves up for a bike… she’ll want a car.

This IS a Guy Gilchrist Nancy!!! His name is plainly visible and it’s dated, 4/22/13.

Refreshing to see his cartoons again. Not too happy with the current status. Guess Guy has moved on to bigger and better things. Sorry to see him vacate this toon!

This new art is horrible. I’m skipping weekday strips.

Love the surrealism here, with the coffee mug saying the punch line and Nancy just throwing up her hands in baffled wonder at her talking coffee mug. Who says Gilchrist can’t do post-modern?

Bring back, Guy! This new art is garbage.

My favorite part of this strip is a square inch or two of undifferentiated little bits of grass below the signature on the left side of the large panel.

Nancy, you’re rich! Opie only got 25 cents a week!!!

Where’s Olivia?

Drop the candy and ice cream, keep the comics. They’re a better investment.

Will the new artist is a dud and will not get this strip anymore Good By Guy.

I just hope the tantrums over the change in artist stop soon. It’s a comic strip, people. If the change in style is the worst thing to happen to you, you’re doing really well!

If Sluggo ever marries her, I recommend a prenuptial agreement. If she ever left him, the alimony would kill him.

The number of comments bemoaning the loss of Gilchrist is astonishing. I hadn’t read Nancy the entire time he’d been on the strip just because his version was so terrible. I guess I was fortunate enough to miss the whole sexualization of Fritzi and weirdly humor-free episodes of rah-rah didacticism. “Olivia Jaimes” is a breath of fresh air whose take on one of my favorite comics has brought me back to the fold.

Better than the regular ones.
