I’m a guy. I used to have long hair, like past my waist. I cut it off to a regular men’s cut so I could look for a job. It took my mother over a week to notice anything had changed, and then she had to ask what it was.
My mother.
So yeah, enough misandry. And I’m not going to wince like Joe on this one.

Mr Miller should do a comic movie like the Fantastic Mr Fox with his swamp characters sieres and other themes.
razorback2824 over 14 years ago
This reminds me of Bill Engvall’s “I’m Just a Guy” stand-up bit.
I didn’t know today was International Women’s Day. In that case, today’s comic is a good representation of this occasion.

Everyone is clueless about some things.

It’s just perception. Women can accurately multitask and naturally pay attention to detail. So to us men (who can’t multitask all that well and forget details) look rather slow and not too bright.

misandry - hatred of or hostility toward men misogyny - hatred of or hostility toward women misogamy - hatred of marriage (just thought I’d throw it in)

I went two weeks, having shaved off my mustache and goatee without my wife noticing. Finally covering my mouth with my hand, I asked her what she would think if I shaved, she shrugged and said why don’t you try it? Removing my hand from my face I said, “I did, two weeks ago.” It’s not just me. The other day I told her our friend Al had shaved off his mustache, which he has had since I met him. She replied, “Did Al have a mustache?” She has known him longer than I. LOL

Perfect comic for Women’s Day. But you know what’s funnier than the comic? How many men get actually defensive about it, enough to write in, “not accurate!” and, “not guilty!”
(Not saying women are never guilty of the same – but it’s still pretty amusing.)
Rightwingmoron, no, that doesn’t explain the women who sit around watching Oprah. But it may have something to do with all the men who sit around watching WWE Raw…

men aren’t dumb, we just care about different things than women.

@Doctor Toon,
Once upon a time I replaced the original wheels on my Trans Am. A guy noticed that immediately: “Say, aren’t those Camaro wheels?”. It’s the important things we notice.

The dolt IS one of those guys.Clueless enough to stay with the control freak.Hard to feel sorry for the willfully dumb
vexatron1984 over 14 years ago
My mom didn’t notice my dad had shaved his goatee until two weeks after the fact. But the point is that for the MOST part women are detail oriented while for MOST part men aren’t so much. The reason we see so many ads depicting men as “clueless” is because it appeals to the gender that does most of the shopping now, that would be us women.
Just remember that stereotypes exist for a reason and don’t take life so seriously!

I went from long, dyed, frazzled hair to short hair and my husband shaved his mustache at the same time. Guess which one everybody noticed?
Wiley creator over 14 years ago
Agreed, Doctor Toon. Sadly, it says so much more about the posters who read more into the cartoons than there is.

Wiley; As always your art is superlative, the expression in the second panel and the caricature in the fourth panel is priceless. Thanks

I really like Victoria’s new haircut. That was a very good answer.
Am I the only one who believes that men and women are different, and that being male or female doesn’t make you better?
Trebor39 over 14 years ago
I’m tired of men being cut to the bone for not noticing everything women do. Men aren’t stupid, they’re just not interested in all those things. But we still love them.
pawpawbear over 14 years ago
In my 59 years and 3 marriages, I have come to one conclusion. Women are all related and men truly are clueless when it concerns women. I just don’t bite when it comes to those no-win questions. I tell my wife that she looks great to me in sackcloth and I don’t care what she wears or how she fixes her hair. When I tell her that I am telling the truth and don’t have to come up with a lame answer.
Wiley- this has become my favorite strip of all time.
razorback2824 over 14 years ago
Something I found that reminded me of today’s strip. At least it reminded me of some of the comments on today’s strip.
freeholder1 over 14 years ago
Always gives me a chortle: the FOX TV network creates Homer (And Family Guy and American Dad and…) and absolutely bludgeons men and Republicans and Christians for twenty years and then runs a News Network that says we should be the ones running the country. And people of both sides buy into BOTH nets without once noticing the hypocrisy. Talk about a money scam! At least we didn’t have to bail them out…yet.
rowena28 Premium Member over 14 years ago
Wiley: I realize the haircut was just a plot device but, for the record, I loved Victoria’s long hair.
Richard: “sarcasm is the recourse of the weak mind.”
Whatever gave you that idea?? Usually, the brightest people employ & enjoy sarcasm & the dumbest people either miss it or are offended by it.
Kaero over 14 years ago
Bah…stereotypes are dull. I mean, goodness…my husband does most of the cooking and keeps the calendar and I…uh…apparently I sit around making comments on comic strips.
cleokaya over 14 years ago
I was raised by my mother because my dad traveled for a living. I am always noticing changes to my wife’s appearance and also her mothers and have even made haircut suggestions that they have both embraced. But I never learned my dad’s personality traits. At parties if people separate into groups of men and groups of women, I join the women. For one thing they are cuter and I have more general interests with them. The one thing my wife gets on me though is things that need getting done are placed in my path, but they seem invisible to me as I just walk around them, not even cluing in to the reason they were placed there.

If Joe were to shave his head, how long would it take Victoria to notice?
Varnes over 14 years ago
The men who are complaining about the stereotype of men as clueless, don’t have a sense of humor. And they’re thin skinned wimps, as well. That makes them the people they say men are not…

1) COOL! Victoria is back!
2) I like the new hairstyle, and seeing her with softer lines for her face again. She’s pretty.
3) @Wiley* Are we going to see this whole storyline with Victoria collected, or should I just print out the strips as the come out and make my own (kinda) collection?
lindz.coop Premium Member over 14 years ago
Love the irony – also love that on this strip, commenters usually refrain from the ugly comments seen on some other strips – even when they disagree. I attribute that to the artist and the people drawn to this type of humor.
