This was deliberate: a warning to the other eggs! The ruthless gangster known as The Chef wanted it to be messy and visible; he wanted it to send a message!
This just in:
There appears to be a dispute regarding jurisdiction between CSI: MGU and the Literary Victims’ Unit: Lewis Carroll Division. The identity of Mr. Dumpty is in question. Sources have reveal that persons of interest at this time are a young woman known as “Alice” and a shadowy figure known only as the “The Chef.” More at 11.
Ooh, the smell of egg decomp….
This definitely goes in the Death Cartoon Collection at The Family Plot Blog:

You gotta crack a few eggs to make a great omelet, so Humpty may just be the first in many more to come.
(Who says you gotta get up early to throw in a lousy pun?)
RE: Chicken or egg. An egg won’t hatch without a hen to keep it warm and turn it 2 or 3 times a day, so the chicken must have come first or it would have been a very short-lived species.

Hey chef, you forgot to put a frying pan on the ground for him to fall into! This is gonna make one dirty omelet…

So there was fowl play involved then.

A sever case of “shell” shock. Dutchboy1 cracked him up.
Wiley, this storyline is hard-boiled. It’s too bad Mr. Dumpty wasn’t.

That cracked me up!

Dang pouncingtiger, you beat by 1 minute on that one. :)

Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall The Chef snuck up behind him. Gave him a poke with a ball point pen, And they couldn’t put Humpty together again.
Or something similar.

Jasper Fforde’s “The Big Over Easy”, anyone?
waynl almost 14 years ago
Once they get “The Chef’s” rap sheet they’ll see he’s been involved in some serious poaching. The lead investigator swears he’s gonna make him fry!

“Jasper Fforde’s “The Big Over Easy”, anyone?” Glad to hear that someone else is twisted in the same way as me - or at least in the same direction.

Humpty died of embarrassment– he had face all over his egg.

The winner is—steverino good one
BloomCo almost 14 years ago
We still don’t know which came first but apparently the egg died before the chicken.

@BloomCo-The egg came first. Reptiles were laying eggs long before chickens where on the scene.
Good puns everyone.

I don’t know…I think the yoke kind of fell flat.

I concur, the winner is steverino, runnerup is, oldfarmhand.
