I’ve played three compositions about cats:.Kitty-Valse, (Faure)Kitten on the Keys, (Confrey)Krazy Kat (John Alden Carpenter). There are probably a lot more.
With my cat “Shadow” by name the possibilities are endless, including but not confined to: Watching birds out the window, playing with his toys, making mad passionate love to our feather duster, (made even stranger as he was “fixed”, early on,) and getting his claws caught halfway up the wall heater and hanging on for dear life until he is rescued.
I believe that cats are probe driods from another dimension. They stare at blank walls, looking at things that once were there or will be there in the future.
There is a reason why a cat will jump up from a nap, dash into the next room and immediately fall asleep. Where a cat sleeps is of great cosmic importance. If you trace their sleep patterns you will get a limb and node diagram for a cold fusion reactor or faster-than-light, perpetual-motion machine.
Purring is actually telemetry back to the mother ship.
emptc12: There is a soprano and mezzo duet, lyrics repeated meows. Peter and the Wolf has a cat theme for clarinet. Benny Goodman recorded The Cats Join In (also an animated cartoon).

They sleep up to 18 hours a day so that they can cram in all the activity into 6 hours of wakefulness.
And that 6 hours is always during the 6 to 8 hours you are trying to sleep.
