Kate: There's nothing on your menu that a vegan like Uncle Bob can eat, Gran'ma. Flo: No one evah complained about it. Kate: Maybe because vegans won't bother coming in. But if you added a menu of vegan dishes, you'd attract the growing number of people turning to healthful eating. Flo: Hmm...I suppose. “Vegans can starve themselves to death, for all I care.”_________________________________
To put in perspective what a vile statement this is, substitute the word “vegans” with “Jews” or “Blacks”, or any other ethnic or religious group of people. It’s as ignorant and wrong as the rest of your post. You come on to MY page and tell everyone you wish I’d die of starvation. My, how civil of you.
No, prfesser, medical evidence (research) is increasingly showing how bad meat is in your diet, particularly red meat, with all the chemicals and drugs that are being pumped into animals.
And just where do you and others here get the notion that vegans are starving themselves? Again, it’s the polar opposite. You eat MORE on a whole-food-plant-based diet, and it’s so much more satisfying than any meat meal. I know that’s hard for most here to swallow (so to speak), but it’s true. The amount of disinformation and outright fabrications here by so many about vegans is sad and borders on bigotry. As the late Tip O’Neil famously said, you’re entitled to your own opinion, but not to your own facts. Why there’s this knee-jerk fear of vegans is quite beyond me. Yes, some are overtly political about it and are obnoxious. This is why I try to avoid using the term “vegan”. It’s become too politicized. The fact is, the vast majority of those who have turned to the whole-food-plant-based diet did so purely for health reasons. And if it didn’t work, where it turned out to not be healthful (as so many here incorrectly have said), don’t you think they’d abandon it? Why would they continue on it if it didn’t make them feel better? The fact is, you DO feel better by getting meat and dairy (fat) out of your system and have far more energy than ever. I know this flies in the face of everything most of you believe, but if you did a little research into it with an open mind, you might learn that we’ve been lied to all our lives.
Think about it for moment…your mother (like EVERY mothers) tried desperately to get you to eat more vegetables. Why? If meat is so wonderful and healthful, why does every doctor and nutrionist tell you eat a lot more vegetables and fruit and cut way down on meat (especially red meat) and cut out dairy altogether? If eating meat made you feel better and gave you more energy, why would anyone stay on a vegan/vegetarian diet? It defies logic. The information is there and readily available. But if you choose to keep eating meat, great. No one is trying to convert you, only provide you with information. It’s up to you to look into it or ignore it. Like any group of humans, there will be the insufferable fringe element. Unfortunately, it’s this fringe extreme that ends up getting the vast majority painted with their broad brush of public image. But again, this is a health issue, not political issue. Please note the difference and stop with the ignorant stereotyping.
